APARTHEID
The pictures above are pictures of signs that you would have seen if you lived in South Africa at this time. In South Africa Nelson Mandela was trying to stop Apartheid. Apartheid was a set of laws that are often used in discrimination against black South Africans. People often compare these with Jim Crow Laws. One big difference between them is that the Jim Crow Laws took place in America and Apartheid took place in South Africa.

Apartheid Laws
- No Mixed Marriages: No black and white South Africans could get married it was illegal
- No Voting: Not only could blacks not be on the common role for whites to vote neither could the asians or spanish any other race that was not white could not be on the common role
- No Native Work: No strikes could happen by blacks they were banned

- Restraunts: No colored and white person can be served at the same place in the restraunt
- Schools: No white and colored person shall go to the same school
- Intermarrige: No colored and white people could get married it is illegal
