Nelson Mandela's Legacy
Nelson Mandela left his legacy on people by inspiring them with his motivational words. You see this according to some of the speeches at the website http://www.anc.org.za/nelson/show.php?id=2850. Nelson Mandela inspired and helped many people with his beautiful speeches and heroic actions. This was shown a couple of years ago when he went on the Oprah Winfrey Show. During this show Oprah met him for the first time and she felt inspired by him and honored to have the privileged to meet the man who changed so many lives. She had heard from others that he was a very nice person, but found out that he was also humble. He changed some people’s views on the South African people. When he came home from jail in the year 1963 all the people of different races were finally getting along. It was all because of Nelson Mandela and the way he stood up for equality that made so many people now respect him. Nelson Mandela inspired me because people said he was the most influential leader of the modern world. His background and life decisions some may have been poor but he has overcome most all of it. Even through all these tough times in jail he still came out with his loving smile. He has taught us that we are all sisters and brothers and that we must rise up and must support each other through thick and thin. The point is that it does not matter what gender you are or what color hair you have or the color of your skin everyone should be treated equal. If you could pick out one thing about Nelson Mandela that is inspirational to me it would be that he persevered even after being in jail. He had a mission to seek fairness toward all persons and he forgave all the people that had wronged him. Mandela as a young rebel had all the makings and influences of a well groomed troublemaker. He grew up in a poor area. His dad died when he was very young and his dad’s friend adopted him. He gave Nelson the same opportunities his children had, which were only allowed to the wealthy black. Nelson Mandela stood up for what he believed in despite what others might say.
