This is an Original Nelson Mandela Speech:
SPEECH BY MR N MANDELA ON PRIME MINISTER TONY BLAIRS VISIT TO THE FOUNDATION 31 May, 2007
We are delighted that Prime Minister Blair has decided to honour us with a visit on his last trip to Africa. He has been a very good friend of Africa as Prime Minister and I know his commitment to our continent and poverty eradication will continue in his future role. We wish him the very best for his future.Tony, I look forward to welcoming a young man like you to the club of retired presidents and prime ministers. I need to warn you however, that some of us only became active after stepping down from public office. I know that your energy, passion and youth can still play a big role in international affairs and we look forward to the contributions you will continue to make.
The Prime Minister’s successor Gordon Brown, is also a dear friend of Africa. I am happy that we will see the commitment and passion for Africa continue. I look forward to Gordon`s premiership of Britain demonstrating the vision, leadership and integrity that I know of him.
We congratulate Prime Minister Blair on his term in office. We thank him for his support over the years and we look forward to working with him in future. We continue to hold him in high regard and he will remain a close friend to us all.
This is an picture of Nelson Mandela's birthplace:
"No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."
